"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creation;
old things have passed away;
behold, all things become new."
2 Corinthians 5:17
This morning as my son and I went out for a walk there was thins slight breeze with the hint of fall in it. Living in hot hot Florida we always look forward to the arrival of cooler days, and ability to have the windows open again. This morning we saw something special, something I had never seen before. A beautiful butterfly was coming out of its cocoon. There is was spreading its beautiful wings and getting ready to take flight for the first time. Leaving its ugly old shell of a cocoon and getting ready for a new adventure.
While seeing this, I couldn't help but think of how we are new creations in Christ, just like the verse in 2 Corinthians talks about. The old ugly sinful person that we were before Christ is done away with and Christ makes us new. Thanks to what Christ has done for us on the cross at Calvary we can no longer are that sinful person we were before. Galatians 2:20 also says it so perfectly
"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."
Let's each take time today to thank God that He has made us new creations, and that we are no longer who we once were, but now we are beautiful in His sight.
